Development of DOB Social Isolation Scale: Validity and Reliability

Objectives: The situation in which an individual disconnects their communication from environment and avoids collective activities is called “social isolation”.Based on the literature reviewed, measurement tools’ validity reliability studies that were previously made not sufficient measuring concept of social isolation. study was conducted to develop a scale evaluate Methods: This methodologically with 584 university students between February June 2019. draft Social Isolation Scale reviewed literature, item pool 31 items 5-point Likert type created. Suggestions 11 experts evaluated. Finally, 28 prepared, corrected terms language expression line expert opinion. data collected via questionnaire prepared by researchers. Results: mean age detected as 20.45 ± 2.33. Ten removed because factor load under 0.500. It determined consists eighteen sole factor. internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach’s alpha) calculated 0.912. Conclusion: demonstrates “DOB Scale” valid reliable instrument.
